ABOUT THE CHEF

Hello everyone!

My name is Barb Johnson and I'm so glad you made it over here! Here is a little bit about me. I live in Le Mars, IA with my husband Randy. I am a mom to three sons, two daughters, and two daughter-in-laws. When I'm not cooking in the kitchen, I love shopping with my girls, spending time at home with my family, and going on walks.

For the past 20 years, I have enjoyed taking care of children out of my home daycare. Although that has been a huge part of my life, I knew that God was calling me in a different direction. I would say that Mama Barb's Catering started up quickly, but truthfully making food for others has been a passion of mine for quite some time! Having 5 kids of my own, I always enjoyed making family dinners and feeding other family and friends who would often come over. I have always dreamed of what it would be like to start my own catering business, but it would always be pushed on the back burnner. After many years, my husband and family finally convinced me to follow my dreams and do something that I LOVE!

I have enjoyed catering meals for large events, family dinners, birthday parties, business meetings, non-profits, holiday gatherings, and everything in between for the past couple years. I also cater large events and weddings out of Laurel Ridge Barn in Sioux Falls, SD. My favorite way to cook is homemade family style dinners such as meat, potatoes, casseroles, etc. I also find joy in making all types of baked goods; M&M cheerio bars happen to be a fan favorite!
